Kitchen sinks used to come in two basic materials these were stainless steel and ceramic sinks. Normally these sinks would be in basic oblong shapes and one sink looked very much like any other sink there was not much difference. However modern kitchen sinks come in a variety of materials and hundreds of different designs and shapes. Even the humble tap has had a makeover and is available in different designs and styles. You still do get a lot of stainless steel sinks about and they will always be popular but you do not have to stick with a stainless steel sink try a sink made from some other material such as granite.

To give your kitchen its own piece of luxury why not try granite kitchen sinks they are hardwearing and will not scratch and mark very easy. Granite sinks used to be only in big sizes; however you can now get normal sized granite sinks in most styles. If granite is not for you why not try some other materials such as marble, soapstone or the traditional ceramic style sinks. One of the new materials being used for sinks is concrete, I know it does not sound very nice or attractive but take a look at the new concrete sinks which are available an I am sure you will be surprised they look great and are very hard wearing and do not damage very easy.

If you decide to go down the stainless steel kitchen sink route then there are lots of different designs to choose from. There are lots of different shapes to choose from as well due to the main fact that you can bend steel but not stone. So you can have round, oval and almost any shaped sink you desire if you choose to have a metal sink. If stainless steel is not for you why not try a copper kitchen sink they are becoming more popular and as with steel come in a variety of shapes and sizes. One other material which was popular is plastic not the plastic bags are made from but a hard plastic such as thermoplastics or acrylic, these sinks do not like heat and can mark quite easy so they are not as popular as they used to be and people are choosing other materials instead.

Once you have chosen what your sink is going to be made from you need to decide on what style of sink it’s going to be such as a double sink, single sink or another combination. You also need to decide if you are going to have an undermount stainless steel sink or an overmount granite kitchen sink or a sink with a waste disposal unit or vegetable wash facility. Once you have decided all this you will then have to choose the faucet and as per the sinks there are hundreds of different faucets available. You need to buy a faucet which matches your sinks appearance. If you are going for the modern look then have a very modern faucet, however if you have gone down the traditional look for your sink then you want a traditional style faucet.
